Your Chance to Thrill ‘Em

Update:

Here’s what this looked like in my corner of the cemetery.

************

So.  What are you doing on October 23rd?

Thriller

Not busy?  Cool.  You can join tens of thousands of people around the world who will dress up like zombies and simultaneously perform Michael Jackson’s Thriller dance number.

Yep.  I kid you not.  Started in 2008, this has to be the strangest fund raiser I’ve ever come across.  Last year, according to the website, Thrill the World, 22,571 people danced in 33 countries to raise over $100,000 for charity.

“over US$100,000;
hundreds of pounds of food;
new volunteers for organizations;
public awareness and education;
media attention for charities; and
support for over 80 charities/non-profit groups.”

And you know what?  I bet they had a blast doing it.

Got no moves? No problem.  The Thrill the World web site offers a DVD that will teach you how to do the dance. But you can also go to YouTube and find Thriller dance lessons.

So get your Michael Jackson on, gather up a bunch of your friends, and get out there and dance.  This is October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Do it to raise money for Breast Cancer research.  I just know your local newspaper will give you coverage, and people will show up.

Besides, you can wow ’em at the next wedding you go to or pretend you’re Jennifer Aniston.

      Heh. I will be one of the ones making a donation and clapping. I’m a little long in the tooth to be waggling my booty a la Michael Jackson. Back in the day, though…

    Didn’t know about this! Wonderful … Thanks for posting.
